South Carolina football tickets in high demand

Following a 2022 campaign that saw South Carolina football defeat back-to-back top-ten opponents to end the regular season, university administrators expect the stands in Williams-Brice Stadium to be packed again in 2023.

The number of tickets being sold by USC backs up that notion.

“This is the most new season tickets that we’ve sold since I’ve been here, so that’s over ten years, over eleven football seasons,” said Dan Stahl, the school’s Associate Athletics Director for Revenue Generation.

A combination of the excitement among the fan base, plus additional manpower hired by the athletics department, has also led to very high retention rates within the Gamecock Club.

“Our fans are the most passionate and dedicated in all of college sports,” said Athletics Director Ray Tanner. “With eight members of our staff dedicated to retention, we have been able to give our Gamecock Club members the personal touch that they deserve.”

After defeating Tennessee at home and Clemson on the road to end the regular season in 2022, Stahl told GamecockCentral.com that the preseason buzz has plenty of fans eager to catch a game for South Carolina football this year.

“In general, the public demand for our tickets is as high as I’ve seen it since the ’13 or ’14 season,” Stahl said. “After those three 11-win seasons, that created a lot of demand. But this is the highest I’ve seen it since then. We’re expecting several of our games to be completely sold out, and we’re excited to announce those as soon as they happen.”

Many South Carolina football fans took advantage of recent ticket promotions offered by the school. A 2023 Father’s Day promotion performed better than last year by a significant margin. Another initiative tied to signing day was the best-ever of its kind, according to USC.

The “Back to School” ticket sale has in the past included one SEC game and one non-conference game. Because of this year’s demand, the promotion included two non-conference games: Furman and Jacksonville State.

“Doing those two non-conference games really didn’t affect the demand at all,” Stahl said.

Darude is also coming to Williams-Brice Stadium this season when South Carolina football matches up with Kentucky in November, and that led to another uptick in ticket demand for that contest.

“It got a little buzz. That game’s done really well over the last several cycles. The Darude announcement did definitely help with some excitement and some buzz,” Stahl said.

USC fans hoping to snag single-game tickets for home contests at Williams-Brice Stadium this season still have multiple options, Stahl noted.

Ticketmaster.com was pointed to as the best option since the platform will show any available single-game tickets. Any season ticket holders who cannot make a game may place their tickets on the official marketplace for resale there.

“If you’re looking for a deal from us that’s not necessarily season tickets, we still have the Go Pass and the Football Mobile Pass available,” said Stahl.

The Go Pass is a $20 monthly membership that includes access to non-conference games, with an option to add on conference contests for $15 each. It also includes all men’s and women’s basketball games, plus baseball games.

The mobile pass is $150 and includes access to all games except Clemson. Both of those products are subject to sellouts.
