South Carolina lands commitment from big-time transfer portal quarterback
South Carolina football has landed a commitment from big-time transfer portal quarterback Air Noland. The class of 2024 4-star gunslinger was one of the top transfer QBs in the country this cycle. He entered the portal following just one season with the Ohio State Buckeyes. On3’s Hayes Fawcett announced Noland’s commitment on social media following his weekend visit to Columbia.
Carolina starting quarterback LaNorris Sellers may just be a redshirt sophomore when the 2025 season begins, but he will be eligible for the 2026 NFL Draft the next April, meaning USC could be looking for a new starter at the position after next season. If Sellers enters the draft (and he would be a highly sought-after prospect), Noland likely would battle with fellow young quarterbacks Dante Reno and Cutter Woods for the top job.

As a player, Noland is a very intriguing prospect. He is a plus-athlete for the position, though, he’s not a Sellers-type of player. The lefty is extremely accurate and has displayed a soft passing touch on film. He doesn’t possess elite arm strength, but his throws still have plenty of zip on them. He can throw the deep ball well, too.
Because of his immense talent, the On3 industry ranking slotted Noland into the No. 59 overall spot in their recruiting rankings. He also was No. 9 in talent-rich Georgia and No. 5 among all national quarterbacks.
Listed at 6’2″ and 195 pounds, the Peach State native will be much closer to home with the Gamecocks. During his prep days at Langston Hughes High School, Noland put up gaudy numbers, including over 4000 yards passing and 60 total touchdowns as a junior in 2022.

Shane Beamer’s team was expected to bring in a quarterback this transfer cycle, and now they have. Noland’s decision brings the Gamecocks’ scholarship count at quarterback to four for next year. However, other than the incumbent Sellers, none of the quarterbacks have played meaningful snaps. Sixth-year senior Davis Beville graduated, and fifth-year Robby Ashford will use his final year of eligibility elsewhere.
Noland joins EDGE Jaylen Brown, interior offensive lineman Nick Sharpe, tight end Jordan Dingle, defensive tackle Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy, and linebacker Shawn Murphy in South Carolina’s transfer portal class. All five transfers could find themselves in the two-deep this offseason.
Noland will be a redshirt freshman when he joins the team this winter. He will have four more years of eligibility remaining in his college career.
