Former 5-star transferring from SEC rival to South Carolina
South Carolina needed some help on the defensive line, and now they’ve got some. Former 5-star defensive tackle Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy, a former Texas A&M Aggie, has committed to the Gamecocks out of the transfer portal, GamecockCentral has confirmed. On3’s Pete Nakos reported the news.
Listed at 6’3″ and 310 pounds, Brownlow-Dindy didn’t see much action over three years in College Station due to injuries. However, he has enough size and ability to make a major impact if he’s healthy. He could have up to three years of eligibility remaining.

GamecockCentral has been monitoring Brownlow-Dindy’s situation since he entered the portal because he seemed like a great fit for what defensive line coach Travian Robertson needs for his room. Now, he will get the chance to prove that in garnet and black.
GBD took a visit to Columbia this week, and sources told GamecockCentral that it was “excellent.” The big defensive tackle’s commitment (obviously) backs up that report.
South Carolina is expecting to lose four major contributors at defensive tackle this offseason, so early playing time could be available to Brownlow-Dindy. Seniors Tonka Hemingway, Boogie Huntley, and DeAndre Jules all are out of eligibility, and redshirt junior TJ Sanders will be an early NFL Draft selection if he declares. Nick Barrett and Monkell Goodwine then would be the only scholarship returners with much experience on the interior of the defensive line. Junior college addition Zavion Hardy, true freshmen Christian Ingram and Caleb Williams, and walk-on Rondarius Porter also could be factors.

Finding quality depth and rotation-ready talent at tackle is a priority for USC during this transfer portal cycle. Brownlow-Dindy is the type of player who could fit that mold. He is strong in the trenches, but he’s a big-time athlete for the position, as well. He’s built like a thicker version of Hemingway, and similarly to the graduating Gamecock, he can impact a game through the way he stops the run and through his pass rush ability. He played both inside at tackle and outside at EDGE in high school but will stay inside at USC.

A Lakeland (Florida) High School graduate, Brownlow-Dindy was ranked as high as the No. 3 prospect in the country in the class of 2022 and slotted into the On3 industry rankings as a clear 5-star recruit. Now, he is a top-10 transfer portal defensive tackle.
Brownlow-Dindy is the fourth transfer portal pledge for South Carolina. He joins EDGE Jaylen Brown, offensive lineman Nick Sharpe, and tight end Jordan Dingle in the Gamecocks’ portal class.
