Where South Carolina's transfer portal class ranks nationally
South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer and his staff are working hard in the transfer portal. Ten players have pledged themselves to the Gamecocks in this portal class, and several other players also have an interest in joining them.
South Carolina has received transfer portal pledges from offensive linemen Nick Sharpe (Wake Forest), Rodney Newsom (Western Kentucky), and Boaz Stanley (Troy), defensive tackle Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy (Texas A&M), linebacker Shawn Murphy (Florida State), tight end Jordan Dingle (Kentucky), EDGE Jaylen Brown (Missouri), defensive back Myles Norwood (Ball State), running back Rahsul Faison (Utah State), and quarterback Air Noland (Ohio State).
But where do those ten names have the Gamecocks positioned in the national transfer portal rankings?

According to On3’s transfer portal rankings, called the Team Transfer Portal Index, South Carolina has the 22nd-best 2025 portal class.
For those unfamiliar, the On3 Team Transfer Portal Index compares a team’s portal additions to their departures. Then, the index score is compared to other teams. From On3:

“On3’s Team Transfer Portal Index utilizes the On3 (P)erformance score to measure a team’s production during the transfer process, compared relative against its roster and not a comparison against other schools. This proprietary algorithm determines if a school has improved its overall team talent, stayed the same, or declined in talent during the transfer window.”

Being ranked 22nd tells just part of the Gamecocks’ transfer portal story.
With 10 incoming transfers, South Carolina’s spot in the rankings trails just four programs (Oregon, Duke, Illinois, and Notre Dame) that have fewer portal commitments. With 16 outgoing transfers, No. 22 USC is behind just nine teams who have seen more transfer attrition. So far, Carolina has two 4-star transfers incoming and none exiting the program. The average ranking of the team’s 10 transfer commits is higher than four teams ranked ahead of them.
This means that the Gamecocks have been very efficient during this portal cycle. Beamer and company have brought in good players while not losing guys they expect to play major roles moving forward. Those retention efforts have included keeping the team’s best players in town despite potential higher paydays elsewhere.

A few more transfer portal targets remain on the Gamecocks’ board. Defensive tackles Terry Webb and Davonte Miles and defensive back Brandon Cisse are among those targets. All three players have visited Columbia this week.
If South Carolina can land another name or two, their spot in the transfer portal rankings will only improve.
