Third former South Carolina tight end makes transfer portal commitment
On Wednesday, former South Carolina football tight end Reid Mikeska committed to the Florida Atlantic Owls via the transfer portal. He announced the move on social media.
Mikeska joins the new offense in Boca Raton led by first-year head coach Zach Kittley. Because of a redshirt, he will have at least three years of eligibility remaining. However, because of injuries, he likely will have four years left in his college career.
During his time with the Gamecocks, Mikeska did not find himself in the tight end rotation. He was banged up at times and was in a position room with a lot of talented older players.

Mikeska is one of three USC tight ends who left the program via the transfer portal. Earlier on Wednesday, both Nick Elksnis and Connor Cox found their new homes, as well. Elksnis will play for his former head coach Dan Mullen at UNLV, while Cox will join Bill Belichick with the North Carolina Tar Heels.
In an effort to fill those scholarships in Shawn Elliott’s position room, the Gamecocks have added two new tight ends this offseason. Transfer portal tight end Jordan Dingle (Kentucky Wildcats) publicly committed on Wednesday. Class of 2025 Columbia native Mike Tyler joined the fold by flipping from LSU on National Signing Day. Dingle and Tyler will join with returners Brady Hunt, Michael Smith, and Maurice Brown to make a formidable unit in 2025.
