South Carolina linebacker Ronnie Porter and defensive tackle Rondarius Porter are entering the transfer portal. The fifth-year linebacker and fourth-year defensive lineman announced their plans on social media.

The Porters join offensive lineman Jakai Moore, quarterback Dante Reno, offensive lineman Kam Pringle, defensive back Emory Floyd, EDGE Wendell Gregory, long snapper Jordan Franke, and defensive back/wide receiver Jace Blackshear as players who have hit the portal during the spring transfer window. Gregory has committed to Oklahoma State, while the others remain unpledged.

Ronnie Porter earned a scholarship last year and was one of a long list of players fighting for rotational snaps in the Gamecock linebacker room. South Carolina brought in two transfer portal ‘backers and signed four freshmen at the position this offseason.

Rondarius Porter was still a walk-on but had a chance to fight for some depth snaps this season as part of a thin defensive tackle group. The Gamecocks added two transfers, two freshmen, and a junior college tackle this offseason.

Having logged seven tackles in his career, Ronnie Porter didn’t play much at linebacker but did see plenty of special teams action. He will have one year left of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

The younger Porter also had seven career tackles, including one sack. He will have two years left to play at another school.
