South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer said on Sunday that he hoped the Gamecocks’ extensive injury report would begin to shrink as the week progressed.

On Tuesday, during his usual weekly press conference, Beamer gave the latest on wide receivers Xavier Legette, Juice Wells, and Ahmarean Brown as well as offensive linemen Vershon Lee, Tree Babalade, Trovon Baugh, and Cason Henry.

“Injury-wise, Juice won’t play,” Beamer said. “I’d say Ahmarean Brown is doubtful. And then literally every single other person that you’re gonna ask me about is questionable. They were all out there today. They all were not full speed, necessarily. They were all limited in their own way. But hopefully, as we go throughout the week, they’ll get closer and closer to being close to 100 percent and able to play on game day.”

Beamer did not specifically reference Legette, Lee, Babalade, Baugh, and Henry but did include them on Sunday’s injury update and one can infer that’s the group he’s referring to as all being questionable.

Beamer was asked specifically if Wells will play again this season.

“I think there’s a chance,” Beamer said. “I don’t want to speak for Juice. If you ask Juice, I think he would tell you he would like to come back and play at some point this season. He’s a competitor, he wants to be out there, he’s in every meeting, he’s engaged, he’s talking, he’s working like crazy to be able to get back.”

Legette, South Carolina’s leading receiver this year with 38 catches for 736 yards and three touchdowns, exited the game in the second quarter with what Beamer called an upper body injury. He did not return and was spotted with a towel over his head on the sideline.

Babalade suffered a second-half knee injury while Brown was dinged up with a hamstring issue, Beamer said Saturday.

Anderson (ankle) and Blanton (thigh bruise) were both dealing with injuries suffered against Florida, but were able to play against Missouri.

Lee, who made the move from center to right tackle for the first time this year against Florida, exited that game with a knee injury late in the first half and did not travel to Mizzou. Beamer said on Thursday that Lee could return for the game after A&M.

Henry was injured on the fourth play of the season against North Carolina and has missed every play since but appears to be getting closer to a potential return.

South Carolina takes on Texas A&M this upcoming Saturday in College Station with kickoff scheduled for noon and SEC Network carrying the game.
