Gamecock uniform report for South Carolina-Ilinois in Citrus Bowl
Tuesday’s Cheez-It Citrus Bowl will mark South Carolina football’s chance for just its 5th-ever 10-win season. Standing in their way are the Illinois Fighting Illinois, a team also going for its 5th-ever 10-win campaign.
Shane Beamer’s Gamecocks enter the contest as about a 10-point favorite.

For the first 10 games of the season, South Carolina didn’t repeat a uniform. However, the final two weeks (against Wofford and Clemson), USC repeated uniform combinations from the Akron and Oklahoma games, respectively.
On Tuesday against Illinois, the Gamecocks are repeating again.
After showing off their helmets at Citrus Bowl practice (the classic white helmet with the new white facemask), the Gamecocks’ official social media accounts revealed the rest of their combination.
Just as they did earlier this season against Alabama, South Carolina will rock an all-white look in the bowl. The white helmets with white facemasks will partner with white jerseys and white pants for an updated “stormtrooper” combination. While the Gamecocks lost that day, many viewed the Alabama game as a turning point in the 2024 season. Following that two-point defeat, Shane Beamer’s team didn’t lose again the rest of the year.

For what it’s worth, the Gamecocks are 2-2 overall this season wearing white helmets. Carolina won its other two “repeat uniform games.”
