Gamecock uniform report for South Carolina-Missouri
Saturday is South Carolina football’s final SEC contest of the 2024 season. The Gamecocks, currently 6-3 and 4-3 in SEC play, will welcome the Missouri Tigers to Columbia, South Carolina for a sold-out matchup against two ranked opponents.
Despite the two teams’ similar rankings and records, USC enters the contest as heavy favorites. Some betting lines have Eli Drinkwitz’s team as 14.5-point underdogs to the Gamecocks. National pundits have shared similar sentiments on the game.
Something will have to give, though, as South Carolina has never beaten Coach Drink (4-0 at Missouri and 1-0 at Appalachian State). Overall, Carolina has lost five straight to the team from “the other Columbia.”

The Gamecocks had worn a different uniform combination in every game of the 2024 season through the first nine weeks. The trend will continue on Saturday against Mizzou.
Right after the College GameDay crew dropped unanimous picks in favor of South Carolina, the Gamecock Football social media accounts teased the fanbase with the first wardrobe-related hint. A photo of a white helmet (with new, bigger Block C logo and black facemask) dropped. The helmet also appeared to have slightly different stripes than usual.

A little while later, the social media team revealed the rest of South Carolina’s uniform combination. For the first time all season, the Gamecocks will wear white helmets, black jerseys, and black pants.
In five previous home games, Carolina had worn garnet jerseys three times and black ones twice. With a 2-1 record in garnet and 1-1 record in black, it doesn’t seem as if one particular color is the Gamecocks’ good-luck charm. In black pants, Shane Beamer’s team is 1-1 so far in 2024 (both games at home). White helmets are 1-2, but the Gamecocks have not worn this exact helmet so far this year.
