South Carolina puts two on USA Today All-SEC Team, Shane Beamer wins Coach of the Year
On Thursday, USA Today announced its All-SEC team and individual awards. Based on votes from beat writers around the conference, South Carolina has two players on the All-SEC squad, and the Gamecocks received one individual award.
Both Kyle Kennard (defensive line) and Nick Emmanwori (defensive back) made the outlet’s All-SEC squad. There is just one USA Today All-SEC team, and four defensive linemen and four defensive backs made the cut. Though not explicitly described this way, the defensive line spots were split into interior defensive tackles and EDGE players, and the defensive back spots were divided evenly between cornerbacks and safeties.
Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer also brought home the SEC Coach of the Year honor.
None of them were unanimous selections.
