Another South Carolina senior to play in postseason all-star game
South Carolina football senior offensive lineman Vershon Lee is set to play in the Trillion Tropical Bowl this weekend. The Orlando and Daytona-based all-star game will be on Sunday, January 19th. Like other postseason all-star games, the Tropical Bowl will give Lee and other seniors an opportunity to perform in front of professional scouts and evaluators against other players hungry to continue playing football professionally.
Lee is not the only former Gamecock to take part in a postseason showcase. The Hula Bowl has already come and gone and both the East-West Shrine Bowl and Reese’s Senior Bowl are coming up in about two weeks. Some of Lee’s South Carolina teammates will play in each of these all-star games. Punter Kai Kroeger, cornerback O’Donnell Fortune, and running back Rocket Sanders will play in the Shrine Bowl, while linebacker Demetrius Knight, EDGE Kyle Kennard, and defensive lineman TJ Sanders will be in Mobile, Alabama for the Senior Bowl. Wide receiver Gage Larvadain and offensive lineman Torricelli Simpkins already played in the Hula Bowl.
Practices and combines for the Tropical Bowl will be in Orlando on Friday and Saturday. The game itself will take place in Daytona’s Municipal Stadium, home of the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats.

During his South Carolina football career, Vershon Lee was a do-it-all offensive lineman. The Gamecock captain made 40 starts with 18 coming at center, 16 at left guard, and six at left tackle. His brain and his work ethic were his best traits as he held his own across five seasons. Overall, he was USC’s best offensive lineman in 2023 and had another good year as a redshirt senior this fall. He also earned the team Community Service Award for his impact beyond the sport of football.
Lee has an outside chance of earning an NFL Draft selection in April but should get an undrafted free agent opportunity even if he doesn’t hear his name called.
