Two previously injured Gamecocks ‘full speed’ for Tuesday’s practice

When South Carolina hit the practice fields Tuesday morning as the Gamecocks continued preparations for Saturday’s matchup with Kentucky both cornerback Darius Rush and offensive tackle Dylan Wonnum were back in action after each missed the last two games due to injuries.

“Should be full speed and good to go,” South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer said Tuesday during his weekly press conference. “Both of them practiced this morning. Dylan and Darius both looked great, no limitations out there today. Really, everybody went.

“We’re Game 6, so there’s normal bumps and bruises and guys that need to come along here these next couple of days for sure but nobody that we would sit here today and rule out as we sit here on Tuesday. It’s a long season and we’re approaching the halfway point of the regular season, so bumps and bruises like everybody but nobody other than the guys that have previously been announced as season-ending that I can sit here and say definitely aren’t playing on Saturday and hope to have everybody as full strength as possible.”

Rush missed the last two games with a hamstring injury he suffered against Georgia, while Wonnum, the Gamecocks’ starter at right tackle, has missed the last two games with a foot injury.

Beamer said earlier in the week on his Sunday teleconference that Rush, nickelback David Spaulding and defensive tackle Boogie Huntley all practiced Sunday night as the Gamecocks started Kentucky week.

Spaulding has missed the last four games with a leg bruise suffered in the opener against Georgia State.

Trai Jones, who has come off the bench to play some left guard in each of the last three games, rolled up his ankle in the Gamecocks’ win over SC State Thursday, Beamer said following the game. Beamer said on Sunday that Jones was questionable for Saturday but did not provide a new update on the offensive lineman on Tuesday.

South Carolina lost both Mo Kaba and Jordan Strachan for the season due to knee injuries suffered during the Arkansas game.

The Gamecocks and Wildcats are set to square off at 7:30 p.m. ET this Saturday in Lexington, Ky., with SEC Network broadcasting the game.
