South Carolina football quarterback Spencer Rattler was one of several Gamecocks players to preview the Texas A&M game on Tuesday morning.
The Gamecocks and Aggies are set to square off at 7:30 on Saturday in Columbia with SEC Network carrying the action.

Gamecocks in ‘really good shape’ on the injury front

Shane Beamer feels good about where his Gamecock football program is from a health standpoint, according to his comments during his weekly press conference on Tuesday.
The South Carolina team should get several players back from injury when the Gamecocks host Texas A&M this Saturday night at Williams-Brice Stadium.
South Carolina was without running back Christian Beal-Smith, wide receiver Corey Rucker, defensive tackle Alex Huntley, offensive guard Trai Jones and safeties R.J. Roderick and Devonni Reed in last week’s big SEC road win over Kentucky.
“Injury-wise, we’re in really good shape,” Beamer said during his opening statement. “Corey Rucker won’t play this week. Terrell Dawkins isn’t quite back yet. Other than those two, everybody has a chance.”
RJ Roderick is no longer part of the team, according to Beamer on Tuesday.
The list of probable returners inludes one player that entered the 2022 season as Gamecock football’s number two back looks primed to return after sitting last week.
Said Beamer: “Christian Beal-Smith practiced this morning and looked fantastic. Those guys just continue, Devonni Reed, continue to get better. Boogie did everything this morning in practice.”
South Carolina’s second-year head coach previously addressed the status of Dawkins, a reserve EDGE who’s in his first year with the program, during his Sunday teleconference. He has missed the last three games with a knee injury that required surgery.

“He continues to come along and get closer and closer to hopefully being ready to get back on the field as well,” Beamer said.

Dylan Wonnnum, Darius Rush and David Spaulding, who were previously injured, all returned to action during the contest against Kentucky and played well.
Beal-Smith, it was announced on the TV broadcast, re-injured his foot, which also kept him out early in the season.

Jones rolled his ankle against SC State the week prior.
Rucker injured his foot in preseason camp and returned for limited action in two games but did not make the trip to Kentucky.
The Gamecocks (4-2, 1-2 SEC) are set to host the Aggies (3-3, 1-2 SEC) at 7:30 pm Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium with SEC Network handling the broadcast.
Texas A&M was also on its bye this past weekend. Prior to that, the Aggies lost a 24-20 thriller to Alabama that ended with a goal-line stand by the Crimson Tide as time expired.
A&M opened as a 4-point favorite of the Gamecocks on Sunday, according to Circa Sports.
