Irmo (S.C.) four-star wide receiver Donovan Murph is the final piece to what could be a historic South Carolina freshman wide receiver class.

The big-play local wideout moved into his dorm at South Carolina on Monday, the sixth receiver to enroll after the Gamecocks’ other five enrollees at the position went through spring practice.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder graduated high school early, reclassifying to the class of 2025 to suit up in the Garnet and Black a year early.

South Carolina wide receivers coach Mike Furrey, instrumental in Carolina landing Murph’s pledge, spoke glowingly of the incoming freshman and his classmates in a GamecockCentral Takeover Hour interview last week on 107.5 The Game.

“You’re talking about a guy that’s long, twitchy, high football IQ, tough as all get out, big-time catch radius, highly competitive,“ Furrey said last week. “He’s got some family blood with South Carolina and Alshon (Jeffery) and he’s got a lot of expectations for himself because of some things that his family has done in our program. So it’ll be fun to get him on campus here in a little bit.”

The cousin of Jeffery, an all-time great at Carolina, Murph wrote his own story at Irmo, setting the standard for receivers at the program.

The Under Armour All-American caught 96 passes for 1,328 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior in 2024, leading his team to a spot in the 5A Division II state championship.

Despite the heavy dose of competition Murph will face from his fellow classmates in Columbia, the four-star prospect says he and the other freshmen have developed a bond and want to push each other.

“I think we can have like an Ohio State type of receiving corps,” Murph said in February. “If we continue to bring in guys like me, (Jordon) Gidron, Lex (Cyrus), Brian Rowe, Malik Clark, Jayden Sellers, guys like that, and guys of my caliber, we can really turn the program around. Right now, they’re really on the up. So, with a 9-3 season, I just want to continue to build on that and for everybody to get behind us on what we’re trying to do.”
