Gamecocks EDGE Gilber Edmond announces he will enter the portal
South Carolina Gamecocks EDGE Gilber Edmond announced on social media on Thursday that he will be entering the NCAA transfer portal.
“After careful considerations with my family and God, I would like to announce that I am entering the transfer portal,” Edmond said via Twitter.

The Florida native had a breakout season for the Gamecocks, taking over as a starter on the defensive line after senior Jordan Strachan tore his ACL against Arkansas.
Edmond tallied 39 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks during the 2022 campaign, his redshirt sophomore season.

As a 2020 class member, Edmond was ranked by the On3 Consensus as a three-star prospect and the 183rd-best prospect in the state of Florida. He was a late signing day flip from South Florida.

2021 (Redshirt Freshman)
Saw action in seven games as a second-year player… credited with three tackles… saw his most extensive action at Texas A&M where he recorded a pair of stops including a half-tackle for loss… also had a tackle against Tennessee.
