Ahmarean Brown ready to 'show the world' who he is in final year as Gamecock
The smile on South Carolina wide receiver Ahmarean Brown’s face said it all.
It was a look of hope and eagerness. That all the time and effort he had put in over the years would soon pay off.
Since transferring to South Carolina in 2021, Brown’s production hasn’t been significant. It’s been a far cry from the seven touchdowns he caught as a freshman at Georgia Tech back in 2019. Over the last two years, he’s caught 34 passes for 292 yards. The kicker? He hasn’t caught a single touchdown yet.

But there’s reason to believe that will change. Entering his final year as a Gamecock, Brown has a shot to be a real playmaker on the offense.
“I’ve been locked in, man, and I’m ready to go,” Brown said. “I’m ready to show the world who I am.”
After last year, South Carolina lost some key weapons with Josh Vann and Jalen Brooks leaving for the pros. Even after all that, the receiver room has pretty much stayed intact with the return of Juice Wells and others, plus the addition of some new faces.
In a way, that could make it difficult for Brown to become a leading man in the offense. But regardless of what happens, one thing he won’t be lacking this season is belief in himself.
“I got in there a little bit last year, played more than I did in the year before. So I’m just getting that confidence back up, showing what I can do a little bit more than I did last year. I’m excited to have a great year,” Brown said.

Part of that belief comes from what the offense has been doing so far under first-year playcaller Dowell Loggains. Brown said Loggains has been “there for us” and feels like the group is “ready to go” for week one.
“He’s just a players coach. He listens to the ideas that we have,” Brown said. “The offense is basically based off what we do best, which I believe is working very well with us. We show him what we can do, and he puts things together to put us in the best position to win and go out there and make plays.”

For Brown, he feels as ready to go and excited as he can be heading into the season. But at the same time, he knows this will be his last one. So he’s making sure to soak it all in and leave nothing behind.
“In that last one, you don’t want to take any moment for granted. So that’s what I’ve been doing every day, every meeting,” Brown said.
And with kickoff just over a week away, the anticipation to show everyone what he can do just keeps building.
“I can’t wait, man. I can’t wait,” Brown said.
