Palmetto State's top prospect sets announcement

Florence (S.C.) South Florence four-star DL Amare Adams, the No. 1 prospect in the state of South Carolina for 2025, will announce his college decision on Dec. 3, he posted on Twitter/X on Monday night.
The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Adams named a Top 7 in July of South Carolina, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Florida State, and Tennessee.
“What I like about that group is they’re recruiting me heavy, “Adams told GamecockCentral at the time. “And just out of all of them, I just like all the coaches because they really push their players hard and they push their players to get to the next level. I like how all the coaches do that.”
South Carolina was the first school to offer the four-star prospect over a year and a half ago.
At the time it was Jimmy Lindsey who delivered the offer but defensive line coach Travian Robertson has picked up the mantle and prioritized the top target.

Adams, who said he likes the direction that Shane Beamer is taking the program, got the chance to start to get to know Robertson at the Gamecocks’ summer cookout.
“It’s going good with me and Coach Robertson,” Adams said. “What stands out about him is how he actually played there and how he knows how to get to the league and how to get to the next level. He’s going to coach you hard. He gets you prepared to go to the next level. That’s what I like about him. His message to me was, like, don’t get complacent of where you’re at because just because you’re the No. 1 player in the state and you’re ranked so high, doesn’t mean you got to stop working. He was just telling me to keep working so I can get to the next level.”
Adams is the No. 123 overall prospect and No. 14 defensive lineman in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, and the No. 1 prospect in South Carolina.
Adams and his South Florence team will play Westside for a state championship on Saturday.
