Shane Beamer provides Sunday injury update on Mo Kaba, Jordan Strachan
South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer said Saturday following the Gamecocks’ loss to Arkansas that things did not look good for linebacker Mo Kaba and EDGE Jordan Strachan, who both suffered injuries against the Razorbacks.
Speaking on his Sunday teleconference just over 24 hours later, Beamer provided another update on the two starters.
“Mo Kaba and Jordan Strachan will certainly be out this week,” Beamer said. “They won’t play against Georgia and we’ll have some more information for you on that once we’re able to talk to those guys a little bit more face to face, Mo and Jordan.”

Kaba, who had four tackles before exiting with the injury, appeared to have hurt his knee.
ESPN sideline reporter Kris Budden said that Strachan left the game halfway through the third quarter with a knee injury and was seen crying with family members in the tunnel.
Before leaving the game Strachan recorded six total tackles, one sack and 1.5 tackles for loss.
Beamer said that Gilber Edmond would start for Strachan at the Gamecocks’ EDGE spot.
Senior linebacker Sherrod Greene came in and played 57 snaps (according to PFF) against the Razorbacks in the wake of Kaba’s injury.

Beamer said that the injury news was far more positive for his other players who have been banged up or got nicked up in the game.
“Everybody else should be good,” Beamer said. “There’s a chance that Corey Rucker will be able to play. Christian Beal-Smith is good. Boogie Huntley got hurt yesterday but came back and should be fine. I talked to R.J. Roderick at practice tonight and he told me he felt great and was playing Saturday. So hopefully we can get through the week and be in good shape from an injury standpoint.”

Rucker, a transfer from Arkansas State, has not played this season after suffering an injury that put him in a walking boot in preseason practice.
Beal-Smith, who transferred in from Wake Forest, made his debut against the Razorbacks but played just one snap.
Roderick missed the Arkansas game after going down on the first drive of the opener against Georgia State.
The Gamecocks will return home Saturday as they host Georgia at noon at Williams-Brice Stadium on ESPN.
