It’s official: South Carolina Gamecocks fans will see Dylan Stewart suiting up in the Garnet and Black in 2025.

The standout pass rusher has signed a name, image, and likeness (NIL) contract with Garnet Trust, it was announced on Tuesday morning.

That means that Shane Beamer will keep one of the country’s best pass-rushers in Columbia for his sophomore season.

“Kudos to our fanbase, kudos to our administration, kudos to the Garnet Trust for all they’ve done to be able to help us and our guys out in so many ways,” Beamer said of South Carolina’s efforts in player retention last year. “This program is about relationships, honesty, and trust and having conversations with guys, and building relationships throughout the season. Guys have expressed to us that they want to be (here).”

“I think retaining our current roster is the most important thing,” added Darren Uscher, South Carolina football’s Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting, during a recent appearance on GC Live.

Stewart turned in one of the most impactful true freshman seasons in recent memory, tallying 20 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. His 48 generated pressures – per PFF – was 21 more than the next true freshman pass rusher.

He was named the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Week twice during the 2024 season; once following the season opener against Old Dominion and again after the win over Texas A&M.

The former five-star prospect garnered more than one award after the regular season as a result of his stellar play in Columbia.

Stewart was named to the On3 Freshman All-American Team, also capturing the Freshman Defensive Player of the Year award from the outlet. He was also honored as a finalist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award.

As a prospect, Stewart was rated by the On3 Industry Ranking – a weighted average of all four major recruiting services – as the number 17 overall prospect in the 2024 class.

“Dylan Stewart looks like the best true freshman EDGE player and long-term prospect to come through college football in years,” said Charles Power, Director of Scouting and Rankings for On3, back in November. “The 6-foot-5, 260-pounder is already one of the best pass rushers and NFL Draft prospects in college football. That level of early dominance at a premium position gives him the highest odds of being a top draft pick as things stand today.”
