Gamecocks exit bye week in improving health
Fresh off the bye week, the South Carolina football team should get several players back from injury when the Gamecocks host Texas A&M this Saturday night at Williams-Brice Stadium, head coach Shane Beamer said Sunday during his weekly teleconference.
“Bye week definitely came at a good time for us from a health standpoint,” Beamer said Sunday night. “Injury-update-wise, I would say that there’s a chance that everybody that’s been out could play Saturday against A&M. I would say everybody is probable except for Christian Beal-Smith and Corey Rucker and I would say as we sit here on Sunday, they’re questionable, but definitely they have a chance to play.
“Even Terrell Dawkins, I would say he’s doubtful for this week, but he continues to come along and get closer and closer to hopefully being ready to get back on the field as well. So we’ll see how the rest of the week goes. Obviously, got a long time until Saturday but got a chance to be as healthy as we’ve been since the beginning of this season on Saturday night.”

South Carolina was without Beal-Smith, Rucker, defensive tackle Alex Huntley, offensive guard Trai Jones and safeties R.J. Roderick and Devonni Reed in last week’s big SEC road win over Kentucky.
Dylan Wonnnum, Darius Rush and David Spaulding, who were previously injured, all returned to action in that game and played well.

Beal-Smith, it was announced on the TV broadcast, re-injured his foot, which also kept him out early in the season.

Jones rolled his ankle against SC State the week prior.
Rucker injured his foot in preseason camp and returned for limited action in two games but did not make the trip to Kentucky.
Dawkins has missed the last three games with a knee injury that required surgery.
The Gamecocks (4-2, 1-2 SEC) are set to host the Aggies (3-3, 1-2 SEC) at 7:30 pm Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium with SEC Network handling the broadcast.
Texas A&M was also on its bye this past weekend. Prior to that, the Aggies lost a 24-20 thriller to Alabama that ended with a goal-line stand by the Crimson Tide as time expired.
A&M opened as a 4-point favorite of the Gamecocks on Sunday, according to Circa Sports.
