The South Carolina football fan's "off week" TV viewing guide
With South Carolina’s game rescheduled for this past Thursday and Gamecock fans having already done their fan duties for the week, there now exists the rare chance to sit back, turn on some football, and simply enjoy it without the angst and nerves of watching your team win or lose.
With that being said, here’s the South Carolina football fan’s definitive view guide for Saturday.

MAIN TV
Kentucky @ Ole Miss (ESPN)
This one is an easy selection for a number of reasons. First, it serves as your homework for any good, dedicated South Carolina fan to do their game prep for next week’s opponent. Second, it has the added bonus of being an SEC matchup and to be honest there aren’t too many others in the conference that grab my attention this week. Third, Ole Miss is almost always entertaining, one way or the other.
This is a measuring stick game for both teams right now. Kentucky is the team that’s Top 10 in the country yet Ole Miss is favored by almost a touchdown. And if you just simply like watching electric players, running backs Zach Evans and Quinshon Judkins have been fantastic for the Rebels.
SECOND TV
Oklahoma @ TCU (ABC)
There aren’t many great options here but this one will probably be the more entertaining matchup as it will likely be competitive and more fun than Michigan @ Iowa (FOX).

MAIN TV
Wake Forest @ Florida State (ABC)
Please forgive me, my SEC brethren, for I have sinned in selecting this one over the SEC’s CBS matchup but this one offers more intrigue for me. Wake is one of the most well-coached teams in the country in terms of execution and many of the national folks are playing the “is FSU back?” game at this point. It should be pretty competitive.

SECOND TV
Alabama @ Arkansas (CBS)
This one has the potential to make you flip it on the main TV if Arkansas can keep it close and that’s why you should keep one eye on it. I’m not convinced that the Razorbacks can keep pace with the Tide but I’m intrigued to find out.
As with every team that plays Arkansas, the key will be to keep them off schedule in terms of down and distance and to force K.J. Jefferson to throw in 3rd and long situations rather than throw on his own terms when there are easier passing windows. Alabama should have the front to do just that and on offense they should be able to exploit the Arkansas secondary.
A potential third option here is Oklahoma State @ Baylor (FOX).
Primetime window
MAIN TV
N.C. State @ Clemson (ABC)
No South Carolina game this Saturday and a chance to possibly watch Clemson lose… What more could South Carolina fans hope for? It won’t be easy for the Wolfpack to stop the duo of running back Will Shipley and quarterback DJ Uiagalelei who played well in Clemson’s win against Wake Forest last week. But NC State quarterback Devin Leary has been great so far this season and Clemson’s banged-up secondary has been suspect in the passing game in recent weeks. The potential entertainment value is high here.
SECOND TV
LSU @ Auburn (ESPN)
There’s not much intrigue with the other primetime games. Me personally, I’ll be dialed into FOX to watch the Braves beat the Mets to put themselves in position to win their fifth consecutive division title. But if you want an additional football game for the background, LSU at Auburn could be interesting enough. On one side, LSU has started to figure itself out after the early loss to FSU. And the Bryan Harsin hotseat only gets hotter with a lopsided loss to LSU after the fighting War Eagles barely escaped Mizzou with an improbable win last week.
