Former South Carolina standout D.J. Wonnum reportedly returning to the Carolinas
Former South Carolina star edge-rusher D.J. Wonnum is returning to the Carolinas.
The Georgia native has agreed to a two-year deal worth $12.5 million with the Carolina Panthers, according to 1340 AM Panthers beat writer Sheena Quick.

The 6-foot-5, 258-pounder is coming off his best season in the NFL when he had 8.0 sacks in 14 games played as well as scoring his first career NFL touchdown on a 51-yard return after a fumble recovery.
Wonnum has spent the last four seasons with Minnesota, the team that drafted him, playing in 62 games with 23.0 sacks and 171 total tackles.
The Vikings drafted Wonnum in the fourth round of the 2020 draft.

During his four years in Columbia, Wonnum appeared in 43 games with 30 starts, logging 137 career tackles with 14.0 sacks.
A four-time SEC Defensive Player or Lineman of the Week selection and two-time team captain, Wonnum’s 29.5 career tackles for loss ranks ninth on the school’s all-time list.
The former second-team All-SEC performer signed with South Carolina as a three-star prospect in the 2016 class out of Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Ga.

Following participating at Gamecocks Pro Day on Tuesday, Rattler shared his thoughts on what he expects from the redshirted freshman QB.
“He’s gonna be a dog. He’s gonna be the guy,” said Rattler. “Just physical, smart, super talented. He’s gonna do some big things here.”
Sellers appeared in three games this past season as a true freshman, which allowed him to preserve his redshirt. He completed all four of his pass attempts for 86 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 51 yards on five carries, including a 36-yard touchdown.
