USC announced on Thursday that the Gamecocks’ home football opener against the Furman Paladins is now a sellout.

Furman opened the season at home against Tennessee Tech last Saturday, walking away with a 45-10 victory. The Gamecocks played North Carolina in a neutral site tilt in Charlotte, falling by a score of 31-17.

Shane Beamer’s program is looking to rebound from that disappointing week one loss to the Tar Heels, a game in which USC did not play up to standard along the lines of scrimmage.

Beamer addressed the offensive line specifically during his weekly press conference on Tuesday.

“I got total confidence in them, total confidence in our offensive line, coaching everything. So I know everybody right now,” Beamer said. “They’re the easy targets to get to criticize the offensive line. Well get your shots in now is what I would tell people. And then when they start playing their ass off, as this year goes throughout the season, make sure you’re giving them credit to as the year goes on.”

Demand for tickets to Gamecocks home contests at Williams-Brice Stadium has been high, according to previous reporting.

“This is the most new season tickets that we’ve sold since I’ve been here, so that’s over ten years, over eleven football seasons,” Dan Stahl, USC’s Associate Athletics Director for Revenue Generation, told GamecockCentral.com. “In general, the public demand for our tickets is as high as I’ve seen it since the ’13 or ’14 season. After those three 11-win seasons, that created a lot of demand. But this is the highest I’ve seen it since then. We’re expecting several of our games to be completely sold out, and we’re excited to announce those as soon as they happen.”

USC now has its first sellout of the 2023 football season.

There are six more games in addition to Furman set to take place in Columbia this year. Mississippi State is up next on September 23. Homecoming is against Florida on October 14. That’s followed by four straight home contests – beginning on November 4 – with Jacksonville State, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Clemson heading to Williams-Brice Stadium.
