Injury Report: Tuesday updates on Darius Rush, Dylan Wonnum, David Spaulding
South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer said during his Tuesday press conference that cornerback Darius Rush is still considered questionable and offensive tackle Dylan Wonnum is doubtful for this week’s matchup with South Carolina State.
“Couple of things on injuries, we’re in pretty good position right now,” Beamer said. “I would say that Rush is questionable this week. I would say that Wonnum is doubtful this week. And then everybody else, would expect to get back. David Spaulding practiced a little bit today so that was good to have him out there and optimistic that everyone else will be back as well.”
The game, originally scheduled for noon on Saturday, was moved up to Thursday at 7 p.m. in an effort to avoid the effects of Hurricane Ian, which is projected to hit the southeast United States towards the end of the week.

Rush has been dealing with a hamstring injury that cut his day short against Georgia and also forced him to miss the Charlotte game.
Wonnum is dealing with a lower leg/foot injury that he suffered in practice late last week. Beamer said it was similar but not as severe as the injury running back Christian Beal-Smith dealt with during preseason camp and for the start of the season.

Linebacker Stone Blanton injured his shoulder against Georgia and was close to returning to action last week against Charlotte but he was held out when it didn’t feel right in warmups. Beamer did not mention Blanton by name in Tuesday’s injury report but he was optimistic on Sunday that Blanton would be available this week.
The Gamecocks had several players who were questionable going into the Charlotte game, but Cam Smith, Boogie Huntley, R.J. Roderick and Jaylen Nichols were all able to return to action, playing snaps of varying amounts against the 49ers.
Transfer wide receiver Corey Rucker, who missed the first three games of the season with a foot injury, also made his South Carolina debut late in the game, catching a long touchdown pass from Luke Doty.
