Shane Beamer gives latest injury updates on Vershon Lee, Stone Blanton, Mario Anderson

On Sunday South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer said that three injured players — Vershon Lee, Stone Blanton, and Mario Anderson — had some tests done earlier that day and they were still waiting on those results.
On Tuesday, Beamer provided further clarity on those during his weekly press conference.
“Health-wise for us, we’re okay,” Beamer said. “Mario is okay, as can be. Mario practiced today, he’ll be fine for Saturday. I’d say Stone Blanton is questionable for Saturday. I’d say Vershon Lee is doubtful for Saturday.”

Anderson has taken over as South Carolina’s starting running back for the last two weeks and was the Gamecocks’ leading rusher in both of those games as well as the one before it. The Newberry transfer has rushed for a team-leading 328 yards and two touchdowns on 64 carries and was dealing with an ankle injury.
Lee, who made the move from center to right tackle for the first time this year against Florida, exited with a knee injury late in the first half and couldn’t return in the second.
“Getting closer and trying to get as healthy as we can, disappointing if Vershon’s not able to go,” Beamer continued. “It seems like it’s just one step forward, two steps back from an offensive line standpoint. But if he is out this week, hopefully he won’t be out too long and he’s doing everything in his power to get back this week.”

Blanton, a starter in all six games this year, exited the Florida contest with a thigh bruise.
South Carolina redshirt freshman offensive tackle Cason Henry was injured on the fourth play of the season against North Carolina and has missed every play since but appears to be getting closer to a potential return.

“Cason Henry continues to make progress, probably won’t be able to go this week, but he did get out there and practice today and do a little bit as well,” Beamer said.
Beamer said last week that Henry could return by the end of the month.
South Carolina has been hoping to get wide receiver Juice Wells back at some point this season. The former All-SEC performer has missed three straight games and was highly limited in the first three too.
Beamer did not provide a Tuesday update on Wells this week.
