JUCO DL announces commitment to South Carolina

Shane Beamer sent out his patented “#WelcomeHome” tweet on Sunday night, signaling a new South Carolina commitment after an important weekend in Columbia.
On Monday, junior college defensive lineman Jerome Simmons revealed his pledge to the Gamecocks.
“After a great visit this weekend I have decided to commit early and come back home,” Simmons said via the X social media platform. “Let’s get to work.”
Originally from Bamberg, the 6-foot-3, 330-pounder chose USC over offers from Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, and Western Kentucky.
The On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average of all four major recruiting services, tabs Simmons as a three-star prospect. He’s additionally ranked by the metric as the nation’s 2nd-best defensive line prospect in junior college and the 15th-best overall JUCO prospect for the 2024 class.
