South Carolina defensive end Jordan Burch was one of several Gamecocks football players to discuss the matchup with Missouri during Tuesday morning’s press conference.
South Carolina and Mizzou are set for a 4 p.m. kickoff at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday, which is Homecoming.

Injury report: Terrell Dawkins returns to practice
Building off of Sunday’s report when Shane Beamer said that the Gamecocks had no new injuries exiting the Texas A&M game, the South Carolina football coach again said during his Tuesday press conference that the Gamecocks are in excellent shape on the injury front.
In fact, South Carolina could soon be getting back Terrell Dawkins, who entered the season as one of its key reserves at the defensive end/EDGE position.
“Injury-wise, we’re in great shape,” Beamer said. “Corey Rucker won’t play but other than that everybody else is in great shape. Terrell Dawkins practiced today again and is getting closer and closer to playing.”

Dawkins, who moved up to the second-team defense after the injury to Jordan Strachan forced Gilber Edmond into a starting role, has missed the last four games with a knee injury that required surgery.
After experiencing a run of injuries in the early going of the season — including losing starters Mo Kaba and Strachan for the rest of the year in Week 3 — South Carolina has gotten relatively healthy in recent weeks.

Safety Devonni Reed and defensive tackle Boogie Huntley both returned to action against Texas A&M on Saturday after missing the Kentucky game two weeks ago. Reserve guard Trai Jones also returned to the field after missing a couple of weeks.

“It’s huge just from a depth standpoint,” Beamer said. “… From a defensive standpoint it helps because you’re able to get some more guys in there. The other night against A&M we played some multiple personnel packages defensively with extra defensive back and things like that on the field a little bit more than what we had been beyond your basic five-DB nickel package. We weren’t really able to do that against Kentucky, so that helps. … It just opens up possibilities and it makes your special teams better.”
The Gamecocks and Tigers are set to kick off at 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at Williams-Brice Stadium with SEC Network carrying the action.
The Gamecocks are riding a four-game winning streak after defeating Texas A&M 30-24 on Saturday night at Williams-Brice.
Missouri is fresh off its first SEC win of the season, a 17-14 victory over Vanderbilt in Columbia, Mo.
The Tigers have won the last three matchups between the two teams.
