The South Carolina Gamecocks landed a target at a position of significant need with the addition of Jesup (Georgia) Wayne County’s Matthew Fuller.

The Peach State product completed an official visit to Columbia during the weekend of June 9, that coming after a trip to Georgia Tech earlier in the month.

“They’re building something different,” Fuller said after that visit wrapped up at USC. “I think I want to be a part of it.”

He will now indeed become a part of the program, with his decision behind him. What else stood out to Fuller during his trip to Carolina?

“The field, the education, the facilities, inside the facilities. I like (Beamer),” Fuller said. “He’s straight up.”

The On3 Industry Ranking – a weighted average that accounts for all four major recruiting services – rates Fuller as the number 67 running back in the country and as the 96th-best prospect in the state of Georgia for the 2024 class.

The 6-foot, 210-pounder put up big numbers last season for head high school coach Jaybo Shaw, who is the brother of former South Carolina great Connor Shaw.

As a junior, Fuller racked up 1,757 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns, averaging 6.8 yards per carry in the process. He went over the 100 yard mark in 10 separate games with a long run on the season of 83 yards.

UCF, Middle Tennessee State, Minnesota, and Iowa State were the other programs to have offered Fuller.
