Latest on Jared Brown, DeAndre Jules for Texas A&M
As South Carolina enters its five-game grind to complete the regular season starting with Texas A&M this weekend, the Gamecocks will get back at least one key contributor who has been out with an injury.
Head coach Shane Beamer, speaking during his weekly Tuesday press conference, gave the latest on the status of wide receiver Jared Brown and defensive lineman DeAndre Jules.
“We’re in pretty good shape from a health standpoint,” Beamer said. “Jared Brown’ll be back this week. Jules probably won’t be. But other than that, we’re in great shape. We’re healthier, we’re more experienced.”

Brown appeared to be emerging as one of South Carolina’s top receiving threats earlier this year only to suffer a lower-body injury late in the first half against LSU. It also kept him out the following week against Akron. He came back for the Ole Miss game only to get hurt again and miss the next two contests.
Beamer has been confident for some time that Brown would be back this week but less so for Jules who was injured against Ole Miss and hasn’t played in the last two games.
Starting cornerback O’Donnell Fortune has also been dealing with a nagging injury that popped up again against Oklahoma but appears to be fine since Beamer did not mention him on Tuesday.

The first SEC availability report for the week will come out on Wednesday evening at around 8 p.m. ET.
The SEC recently approved a player availability injury report system for football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.
SEC school personnel must submit availability reports three days before each football game, with daily updates leading to a final report 90 minutes before game time. For basketball and baseball, reports are filed the night before, with an update on game day.
When schools submit injury reports, players will be designated as available, probable, doubtful, and questionable before game day. On game day, designations will be available, game-time decision or out. The model follows injury reports similar to the NFL.
The Gamecocks and Aggies are set for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday with ABC carrying the game.
