Luke Doty honored to be picked for SEC Media Days
Representatives from all 16 SEC teams and a throng of media members from throughout the country will descend on Dallas this week for SEC Media Days, which many consider the unofficial start to the new college football season.
South Carolina “athlete” Luke Doty, linebacker Debo Williams, and defensive lineman Boogie Huntley will represent the Gamecocks along with head coach Shane Beamer at the annual media bonanza.
Doty, who was the special guest for The Garnet Trust Hour on 107.5 The Game last week, said it was an honor to be selected.

“It was special. Coach Beamer texted me after we finished working out during the kids’ camp week, saying to come find him at the camp,” Doty said. “… He let me know I was going to SEC media day. It’s something I’ve always thought was awesome, seeing Spencer (Rattler) last year and Dakereon (Joyner) the year before. For me to be in that same category as guys who have a voice and a role of leadership is extremely special. It puts me out there to let everyone know what we’ve been up to and give a preview of what’s to come.”

While the event lasts four days, South Carolina will participate on Monday, which is Day 1.
Doty is looking forward to representing the Gamecocks alongside two teammates he considers “the two main voices on defense.
“Boogie … he’s a great speaker. He speaks the truth. He speaks from the heart. He knows when to be confrontational. He knows when to put an arm around somebody,” Doty said. “So, I think for him, he’s always been that guy to speak up about things that are maybe going on. … And Debo is the same way. Debo is not afraid to speak up and really let guys know what’s right and what’s wrong. So, just for both of those guys being there, obviously with me, I think that’s three of the voices of the team. Which is going to be awesome. And obviously Coach Beamer is going to be there too. I think you’re going to get a pretty sound summary of what’s going on in the program.”

This will be the first time for the event to be held in Dallas and the fourth different location for the SEC’s premier media event in four years. Nashville, Atlanta and Birmingham have served as hosts the last three years.
SEC Network will once again carry the four-day event to a national audience.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. ET on Monday.
