south carolina athlete luke doty inks deal with goings law firm

For the second year in a row, a South Carolina student-athlete has inked an NIL deal with Goings Law Firm.

Gamecocks senior “athlete” Luke Doty has partnered with the Columbia-based law firm and will help promote their services on social media (Disclaimer: Goings Law Firm is also a supporting sponsor of GamecockCentral).

Robert Goings, Founder of Goings Law Firm, says Doty is the perfect fit to represent his firm’s values.

“You often hear the horror stories about NIL, but we want to make sure our deals are done the right way,” Goings said. “Luke earned this opportunity by being a good teammate, student, and citizen. His name, image, and likeness are valuable due to his hard work, selflessness, and commitment to others. These are the same traits we value at Goings Law Firm.”

Even in the transfer portal era, the former quarterback has remained loyal to South Carolina, sticking with the university and finding a way to contribute at multiple positions including at wide receiver and on special teams.

His story is similar to that of Dakereon Joyner who signed a similar NIL deal to promote Goings Law Firm last year.

Chris Paschal, an attorney at Goings and contributor to GamecockCentral, said the firm is excited to partner with another great representative of both the university and the state.

“Like Dakereon, Luke is a South Carolina kid who decided to stay home and represent his home state,” Paschal said. “He has done everything asked of him, which is to work hard, perform at a high level on Saturday’s, and leave it all on the field. When you’re a South Carolina native who gives his all for South Carolina, you have gained significant value. Loyalty should be celebrated.”

Doty, who still spends some time in the quarterback room, spent most of the spring at wide receiver. The Myrtle Beach, S.C. native has played in 30 career games with eight starts. Last season he caught 13 passes for 123 yards, including a 36-yard touchdown reception against Furman, and scored on a one-yard touchdown run against Clemson.
