Gamecocks offer transfer portal OL

A transfer portal offensive lineman from the Mid-American Conference has picked up numerous offers from the Power 5 live, and the South Carolina Gamecocks are among the programs to have jumped in with a scholarship.

Eastern Michigan’s Marcellas Johnson announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal on December 29 and picked up a USC offer on Friday.

Following the 2022 season, Johnson was named by the MAC as its Offensive Lineman of the Year. He’s entered the portal as a graduate transfer after starting for three seasons at left tackle for the Eagles.

Illinois, Virginia, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Missouri, Wisconsin, California, Louisville, Kentucky, and others have also extended scholarships to the Normal, Illinois product.

The Gamecocks project to lose three seniors off this season’s starting offensive line. Center Eric Douglas, right guard Jovaughn Gwyn, and right tackle Dylan Wonnum all played their final seasons in Columbia.
