South Carolina linebacker Pup Howard entering transfer portal
After one season in Columbia, linebacker Grayson “Pup” Howard is leaving South Carolina and has enterred the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
The 6-foot-4, 241-pounder out of Jacksonville (Florida) Andrew Jackson was an early enrollee in Columbia, working with the Gamecocks during 2022 bowl prep and then joining the program in full for spring drills.

A four-star prospect out of high school, Howard was rated by the On3 Industry Ranking as the nation’s number 186 prospect overall in the country.
As a true freshman this season, Howard played in 11 games for South Carolina and registered 19 tackles, a tackle for loss, and a forced fumble.

South Carolina also recently lost starting middle linebacker Stone Blanton to the portal. Howard served as Blanton’s backup this season.
