South Carolina quarterback Braden Davis announced Wednesday he will enter the NCAA transfer portal, the second Gamecocks player that day to make such an announcement.

The redshirt freshman did not see any game action in his first season with the Gamecocks, taking a redshirt last season.

Davis is the third South Carolina player to enter the portal during the spring transfer window after suspended redshirt freshman defensive back Anthony Rose announced a couple of weeks ago that he would enter the portal and redshirt freshman defensive tackle Demetrius Watson announced the same on Wednesday.

Davis arrived at South Carolina in January of 2022, after graduating from Middletown High School in Delaware. He was highly touted as the Gatorade Delaware Football Player of the Year, and led the Cavaliers to an 11-1 record and the state championship as a senior.

Davis was also selected for the Under Armour All-America game and ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of Delaware, the 32nd-best quarterback prospect in the country, and No. 570 overall prospect in the 2022 class in the On3 Industry Ranking, an average of all four major recruiting media services.

In a press conference at the end of the spring, Davis said that he’s been focusing on improving his accuracy while getting bigger and stronger in the last year.

“I hit 22.5 (mph) I believe in the offseason”, Davis said. “Squat went up like 100 pounds. Bench went up 80 or so.”

Track transfer portal activity

While the NCAA transfer portal database is private, the On3 Network has streamlined the reporting process tracking player movement.

If you find yourself asking, ‘How can I track transfer portal activity?’ our well-established network of reporters and contacts across college athletics keeps you up to speed in several ways, from articles written about players as they enter and exit the transfer portal or find their new destination, to our social media channels, to the On3 Transfer Portal.

The transfer portal wire provides a real-time feed of player activity, including basic player profile information, transfer portal ranking and original On3 Consensus recruiting ranking, as well as NIL valuation (name, image and likeness).

The On3 Transfer Portal Instagram account and senior national college football reporter Matt Zenitz’s Twitter account are excellent resources to stay up to date with the latest moves.
