The 2023 recruiting class for South Carolina Gamecocks football continues to take shape with signatures rolling in during the first day of the December early signing period.

The latest prospect to officially ink with the Gamecock program is Mableton (Georgia) Pebblebrook three-star wide receiver CJ Adams

He is ranked by the On3 Consensus as the No. 873 prospect nationally regardless of position, in addition to being the 131rd-best tight end prospect nationally and the No. 83 prospect in the state of Georgia.

South Carolina Gamecocks recruiter: Justin Stepp, Jody Wright

Other scholarship offers: Georgia State, Kentucky, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Duke, Purdue, Cincinnati

Why South Carolina? ““It was how big of a fanbase they have. Because in South Carolina, I don’t think they have a pro team, so just that spring ball game, it was a lot of fans and people in jerseys. They were hyped up for a spring game. It was about full for a spring game. The only parts of the stadium that weren’t full were the top two sides and the club areas. Other than that, it was pretty packed out. I would say like 50-60,000 people.”

Scouting report from GamecockCentral.com: Adams is a big-bodied, physical receiver who plays with an edge both when running after the catch and in blocking on the perimeter. I said a few months ago after watching his film that “he’s got a little bit of a Jaheim Bell vibe to his game” and that’s exactly how Carolina plans to use him.

Put simply, he’s an “alpha” type who plays the game the right away and wants to run through people. I sort of like that the first clip on his highlights is him going “The Blind Side” on a defender on the perimeter, blocking him from the line of scrimmage to 10 yards down the field.

In his highlights, he appears to catch the football out front with his hands and appears to have good ball-tracking skills with a knack of making plays down the field and after the catch.

A standout on the basketball court as well, Adams has some freaky athletic traits with a 41-inch vertical according to a coach at his school.

About GamecockCentral.com

Gamecock Central has five full-time employees and several part-time specialists and has been a fully-credentialed media outlet for 20 years.

But that hasn’t always been the case.

Here’s a message from Gamecock Central founder Brian Shoemaker:

Crazy Start

Gamecock Central was started as a hobby.

It immediately turned into an all-encompassing passion.

In late 1999, it became my full-time job.

Today, I remain the owner.

Pretty good for a guy who failed his first computer class at USC.

My family and I are extremely fortunate. My wife prefers to say we’re blessed.

Passion

The reason we exist separates us from other media outlets.

I had no thoughts of the site becoming a business.

The first attempt at generating revenue didn’t occur until 10 months after launch when ads were added.

Gamecock Central’s foundation — our roots, our basic DNA — will always be different than other sites.

Certainly, we have a bottom line, but there’s a bigger picture.

Professional Coverage

Of course, passion alone isn’t enough to satisfy our subscribers.

We have a tremendous team of insiders, analysts, and photographers.

They provide the most in-depth, accurate, and professional coverage of Gamecock sports and recruiting.

And we have The Insiders Forum. It’s where the most hardcore fans hang out and discuss the Gamecocks.

Some are positive, some are “realistic” and some probably yell too much, but they all love Carolina.
