Checking in on Dante Reno at Elite 11 Finals
South Carolina quarterback commit Dante Reno is among the 20 top quarterback prospects from the 2024 class who are competing this week at the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles.
On3 has a host of staff members on hand this year at the prestigious annual event including Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power.
While Reno was not among the Top 11 performers selected by On3 from Day 1 or 2, it appears the long-time Gamecock commit had a solid day during the throwing drills on Day 2 Wednesday.

Said Power:
It was a decent session for South Carolina commit Dante Reno. We charted him as accurate on 14 of 20 passes. He showed a quick release and he looked more comfortable than he did yesterday. He had a good start, but appeared to lose some confidence in the middle after a miss. The Elite 11 staff score for Reno was 38.
Reno was one of the top performers at the entire camp in the Breakaway Data Ball Score metric, checking in at No. 4 overall with a score of 90.5.
For context, the Ball Score “combines a QBs average velocity (MPH) and average release time (seconds) from 12 throws made at the BreakAway station. The higher the score, the faster and quicker the ball is delivered,” according to a Tweet from the company.
After primarily drill work on day one and pro day-style workout on Day 2, the passers will get a chance to show off their skills in a live 7-on-7 setting Friday with some of the top skill players from around the country and the state of California.
On Friday, Reno finished the 7v7 portion of the Elite 11 Finals 12-for-18 with three TDs and an INT, according to Power.

The Fiskdale (Mass.) Cheshire Academy four-star quarterback told On3’s Jeremy Johnson that he was honored to receive the invite to the Finals.
“There are a lot of great quarterbacks that are going to be in it,” Reno said. “Getting selected for it was a really cool experience for me and my family. It’ll be fun to go out there and compete and go represent for everybody. It’s going to be a good time…I know a lot about the history of the event growing up in a football family. I’ve followed Elite 11 my whole life. I know some people that went through it and I know them really well and they had good things to say about it. It’s going to be fun to go out there and compete and leave a legacy like they did with all the rest that have done it.”

The official class of 2024 Elite 11 will be named at the conclusion of the Elite 11 Finals.
Reno is ranked the No. 351 overall prospect and No. 21 quarterback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 5 prospect in Connecticut.
Reno has played a major role in helping South Carolina recruit others to join him in the Gamecocks’ nationally ranked 2024 class, taking multiple unofficial visits to the school in order to be around other top targets.
The Gamecocks’ 10-man class is currently ranked No. 7 in the country according to the On3 Team Recruiting Rankings.
