Arkansas portal tight end announces South Carolina commitment

South Carolina football landed another big portal addition when former Arkansas tight end Trey Knox announced a commitment to the Gamecocks today.
The 6-foot-5, 245-pounder has a pair of unique connections to the South Carolina program in that he played this past season under new Gamecock offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains and was originally recruited to Arkansas by South Carolina wide receivers coach Justin Stepp.

Knox took an official visit to South Carolina over the weekend and the Gamecocks withstood a late push from Alabama to land him.
Knox transitioned to tight end this season and excelled, catching 26 passes for 296 yards and five touchdowns. In four seasons at Arkansas, Knox caught 81 passes for 892 yards and nine touchdowns.
Prior to enrolling at Arkansas and before eventually entering the NCAA transfer portal, Knox was a four-star prospect and the No. 232 overall recruit in the nation in the 2019 recruiting class.

He was the No. 38 ranked wide receiver in his class and the No. 7 overall player in the state of Tennessee, hailing from Murfreesboro (TN) Blackman.
Knox should be a much-needed addition to a South Carolina roster that loses four tight ends from this year’s squad.
