At one time considered a lock to Penn State, South Carolina has given Cyrus plenty to think about in the weeks leading up to a decision after taking official visits to both programs.

New receivers coach Mike Furrey is recruiting Cyrus for the Gamecocks and has prioritized him.

Cyrus also holds offers from Maryland, Miami, Rutgers, Syracuse, Texas and West Virginia but only took the two official visits and will choose between Carolina and PSU.

The On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average of the four major recruiting media sites, ranks Cyrus as the No. 218 overall prospect and No. 27 wide receiver in the class as well as the No. 7 prospect in Pennsylvania. On3 is higher on him, ranking Cyrus as the No. 109 overall prospect and No. 16 WR for 2025.

As a junior, Cyrus accumulated 67 Catches for 1,115 Yards and 13 Touchdowns.

“I think the past year is a great example of a student-athlete seeing where he needed to develop and really working on it,” said Susquehanna Township head coach Joe Headen told BlueWhiteIllustrated. “Now, he’s seeing those results come together. Is he where he needs to be still? No, but he’s seeing the results and seeing himself get better. The impression was he’s a track guy who plays football, but Lex would always tell you he’s a football guy first.”
