Shane Beamer gives first Clemson-week injury report

South Carolina still has the bumps and bruises and injuries that come with playing 12 college football games but for the first time all season, the Gamecocks’ injury list did not grow in Saturday’s win over Kentucky.
South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer also provided the latest on several players who missed the game as he looked back on the Kentucky game and ahead to the Clemson matchup on his Sunday teleconference.
“Injury-wise, for the first time all season, we are in great shape,” Beamer said. “Not a single issue coming out of last night’s game. JT Geer got poked in the eye and didn’t play in the fourth quarter, but he’ll be fine for Saturday. Obviously, we’re beat up. It’s week 12. It’s been a physical year, but we’re in pretty good shape from a health standpoint. Got a chance to get Trai Jones back this week, a chance to get Cason Henry back, and a chance to get Dakereon Joyner back, as well as Jaxon Hughes. So we’ll see as the week goes, but as we sit here on Sunday night, optimistic on those guys.”

Joyner left the Jacksonville State game early with an ankle injury and did not play in either of the last two games.
Jones has missed the last three games as well as part of the Texas A&M game with a high-ankle sprain.

Henry suffered a knee injury on the fourth play of the season and ultimately returned against Jacksonville State only to have to leave that game early too.
Beamer was asked about wide receiver Juice Wells and once again reiterated that he hasn’t been completely ruled out for the game.
“There’s a chance. We’ll see what happens,” Beamer said. “And, again, I know people think I’m, like, lying about this and just making up stuff. Like, there’s a chance. And we’ll see how the week goes. And if Juice was 100% done for the year, I would have announced that, like I do every single other injury that comes up throughout the season if it’s season ending. And that’s not where we are. We’ll see how he feels this week.”
Wells has missed most of the season with a foot injury.
The Gamecocks are Tigers are set for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on SEC Network on Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium.
