South Carolina brought in one of the top wide receiver classes in the country this past recruiting cycle, including five prospects who were already on campus for spring practice.

Whether it’s been Shane Beamer or receivers coach Mike Furrey, those five freshmen all drew praise from the coaches since arriving in January.

This week, while speaking at a Welcome Home Tour stop in Rock Hill, Beamer was asked specifically about Malik Clark, a former four-star prospect and graduate of Rock Hill High.

“Malik’s been fantastic,” Beamer said Monday. “He really came in and solidified himself as one of those guys we think can play a lot for us this upcoming season. He’s really worked hard and has high expectations for himself and has been everything we thought he would be when he got here. So really proud of what he has done since he’s gotten there.”

Listed at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds on his official South Carolina bio, Clark finished as the No. 102 overall prospect and No. 16 wide receiver in the country, according to On3. The Industry Ranking was even higher on Clark, ranking him among the Top 100 players in the country as the No. 88 overall prospect and No. 11 receiver.

Clark capped off the spring with a touchdown catch in the Gamecocks’ spring game.

As a senior for the Bearcats playing in former Gamecock quarterback Jake Bentley’s offense, Clark caught 68 passes for 976 yards and 10 touchdowns.

On3’s Charles Power praised Clark in his wrap-up of the class.

“I think with Malik Clark, the more we went through the position group, really just… he has some physical traits that few others at receiver have,” Power said. “He’s got really good size, like 6-foot-2 plus, very long arms. He is, at his size, certainly one of the more athletic receivers in the cycle, if not maybe the most athletic, especially when you consider kind of size adjusted.

“I think he made improvements as a senior as well. We really kind of viewed Malik Clark as a guy who is an immense physical talent, was going to need to continue just working on the technical side of his game. And I think he showed enough improvement there to make us pretty bullish about his upside.”

South Carolina’s 2025 freshman wide receiver class also features Brian Rowe, Jayden Sellers, Lex Cyrus, Jordon Gidron, and Donovan Murph, who is set to enroll at the end of the month.
