South Carolina had several players leave the game early due to injuries in the Gamecocks’ 41-20 loss to Tennessee Saturday night but head coach Shane Beamer said Sunday that none of them are expected to be long-term issues.

“Coming out of last night, injury-wise, no real concerns, just some normal bumps and bruises, but nothing that we expect to be long-term,” Beamer said on his Sunday teleconference. “Off week is certainly coming at a good time. We’re extremely beat up, as you know, on both lines of scrimmage, and it showed last night, so we have to get healthy.”

Nick Emmanwori got the wind knocked out of him towards the end of the game but was fine. O’Donnell Fortune got banged up Saturday and had been previously dealing with a knee injury.

Defensive lineman TJ Sanders didn’t play in the second half due to cramping and a shoulder injury, a loss that Beamer said severely hurt the Gamecocks’ depth inside while Nick Barrett was also dealing with a foot issue.

Wide receiver Ahmarean Brown returned to action against Tennessee, while offensive lineman Jakai Moore did not play due to a shoulder injury.

The Gamecocks are beginning their bye week which had been identified as a time to reevaluate Juice Wells’ progress as he recovers from a broken bone in his foot.

“He’s still got some soreness when he’s not in the walking boot,” Beamer said. “Just saw him downstairs in the weight room and he’s working out and doing the best he can. I would say, it’s probably not do much at all with him this week. We’re going to practice Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and then those will be our work days. And I think as far as Juice goes, it will really – we’ll kind of see how things go through this week, but I think from an evaluation standpoint, it will be a little bit more in-depth at the beginning of next week to see where he is, not just for Florida, but going forward.”

Beamer added additional details on what the week might look like for the Gameocks’ talented receiver.

“It’s probably – it is reevaluating things during the off week. We’ll kind of see where he is and how he feels. And then as far as like seeing any doctor or specialist, I think our plan is early next week, maybe get another x-ray and kind of see what things look like and see how he feels early next week with our doctors, specialists in Charlotte, and then go from there.”

The Gamecocks (2-3, 1-2 SEC) are off this week and will return to action next week against Florida. Game time for that matchup will be announced on Monday afternoon.
