South Carolina trounced by Georgia at home

Georgia rolled into Columbia and proved why they are the No. 1 team and reigning national champions on Saturday.
The Bulldogs were in control from the very beginning, burying the Gamecocks 48-7. The loss is the worst to Georgia in school history.
South Carolina is now officially under .500 for the first time with Shane Beamer as head coach.
South Carolina was already at a disadvantage before kickoff with five defensive starters in Cam Smith, RJ Roderick, Boogie Huntley, Mo Kaba, and Jordan Strachan all out with injuries.
Todd Monken’s offense took advantage of the banged-up defense all day, dialing it up every play and collecting 551 total yards of offense. Georgia scored on eight our of their 10 drives and averaged 8.7 yards per play.

Stetson Bennett was on fire through the air and on the ground throughout the day. The Mailman delivered consistently and had three total touchdowns.
Bennett was 16-for-23 through the air, throwing for 284 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged just over 12 yards an attempt and had his fair share of explosive plays through the air.
Through just three quarters of play, Bennett had four throws go for 18 or more yards. The highlight came during Georgia’s first drive of the second half when Bennett found Brock Bowers for a 78-yard touchdown pass.
Bowers himself continued to prove why he is one of the best tight ends, if not players, in all of college football.
The 6-foot-4 freak of nature put on a show, collecting three touchdowns in the game. Bowers had five catches for 121 yards and two touchdowns while also adding a five-yard rushing touchdown to his stat line.
Outside of Georgia’s offensive dominance, the Bulldogs kept South Carolina from getting into any kind of offensive rhythm.
Marcus Satterfield and Spencer Rattler struggled and only managed to average 4.8 yards per play.
Rattler was 13-for-25 through the air for 118 yards and two interceptions. He averaged 4.72 yards per attempt.

The South Carolina run game also failed to get anything going during the game. Eight different Gamecocks got a chance to tote the rock and only totaled 92 rushing yards for a measly 3.1 yards per carry.
Rattler was eventually replaced by Luke Doty with just under eight minutes to go in the game.
Doty lead the only scoring drive of the game for the Gamecocks, finding Trae Kenion for a 13-yard touchdown.
Doty finished 5-for-8 through the air for 76 yards.
The South Carolina special teams performance was a lone, brief, bright spot.
Kai Kroeger got a chance to make a play with his arm in the first half when he completed a 20-yard pass on a fake punt. With the throw, Kroeger is now 3-for-3 all-time in passing.
Kroeger also averaged 44.4 yards with his leg and his longest punt was 54 yards.
