DeAndre Jules gives scouting report of teammate Bangally Kamara
South Carolina’s transfer class has taken on a bit of a Pitt flavor.
Defensive lineman DeAndre Jules and linebacker Bangally Kamara both played for the Panthers before entering the transfer portal and ultimately choosing the Gamecocks.
Quarterback Davis Beville and safety B.J. Mack III are both Palmetto State natives joining the South Carolina program as preferred walk-ons after stays at Pitt, Beville’s path including a stop at Oklahoma along the way.
Jules, who sat down for an exclusive Garnet Trust Interview earlier this week, has the unique perspective of playing in the same front seven as Kamara, his former and now current teammate.

“So it was crazy because I didn’t know he was going to – I didn’t know South Carolina was reaching out to him until he told me,” Jules said. “So I was kind of surprised and I’m glad he’s here. He’s a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. He can rush the passer. He comes downhill strong. He has great stamina, never gets tired. Great size. He’s a great addition. So he’s a great addition for us and I think he will show up this year. And I can’t wait.”
Kamara, a senior with one year of eligibility left, collected a career-high 55 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks last year at Pitt. He added five quarterback hits and one pass breakup during the season.
The 6-foot-2, 230-pound Akron, Oh. native attended East High School before joining the Panthers and was a three-star prospect.

Kamara has appeared in 47 career contests, collecting 117 tackles including 11.5 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks.
He will team with fellow linebacker transfer Demetrius Knight II as the duo looks to replace Stone Blanton and Pup Howard, who both left Carolina via the portal.

As for Jules, he chose the Gamecocks out of the transfer portal over finalists Florida and Southern Cal. He took visits to both Florida and South Carolina, committing to the Gamecocks while on campus and canceling a planned visit to Los Angeles.
“When I first got here (on my visit), there was a banner that said, ‘Welcome Home,’ and I truly felt that home mentality, that home experience,” Jules said. “They welcomed me with open arms, and once I got here, I toured the campus, facilities, and talked to the coaches, and everything felt like it came together. It felt like a home environment. I felt like I have the best opportunity here going forward, leveling up my draft stock and possibly winning a championship.”
