South Carolina injury report: Juice out, AB returns
South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer met with the media as he always does on Tuesday, and offered the latest on the Gamecocks injury front as they get ready to travel to Knoxville to match up with Tennessee.
As expected, the South Carolina receiving corps will be without last year’s leading receiver Juice Wells but they should get speedster Ahmarean Brown back this week.
“Juice Wells will not play this week for us,” Beamer said. “He will be out. A.B. is back. He practiced today, and like I said, Jakai Moore’s got a little bit of a banged-up shoulder, but should be fine on Saturday night.”

While the news on Brown and Moore is positive, South Carolina’s depth on the offensive line did take another hit over the weekend as Beamer announced another lineman is out for the season.
“Ni Mansell, who’s a young offensive lineman for us that transferred from Mercer, he suffered a season-ending injury in practice on Sunday night, so he had surgery yesterday, so that’s an update,” Beamer said. “He’ll be done for the year.
“That’s tough because that now means that’s seven offensive linemen that aren’t practicing for us right now. When you talk about Cason Henry, Jakai Moore — he’s just got a banged-up shoulder, he’ll be fine for Saturday — but he didn’t practice today. Chase Sweigart is not practicing right now. Markee Anderson we’ve already talked about. Ryan Brubaker is out for the year, and then Jaylen Nichols is still out long-term as well. So when you’re missing seven offensive linemen, that drastically affects the way you’re able to practice. The backups, the scout teams, all that stuff as well. So tough situation. I hate that for Ni. I hope he can get better soon, and he will be back next year better than ever”.

Beamer also said that defensive backs David Spaulding and O’Donnell Fortune should play this week.
“Spaulding is fine,” Beamer added. “Fortune had a banged-up knee last week, he practiced today. He’s fine unless something changes between now and then. Bradley Dunn has got an ankle sprain, he will be out this weekend also.”

Wells was limited during the first three games after having preseason foot surgery but appeared to be getting close to his old self when he scored the first touchdown of Saturday’s matchup with Georgia.
But he had to exit to the locker room right after that score with a feared broken bone in his foot and missed the rest of that game as well as the Mississippi State game.
Brown left the Furman game early with what Beamer called a hamstring injury and did not play against Georgia or Mississippi State.
