Vicari Swain adds fourth star, makes big jump in On3 rankings
South Carolina “athlete” commit Vicari Swain has earned a fourth star and made a big jump in the newly released 2023 On3 recruiting rankings.
The Carrollton (Ga.) Central standout is now ranked the No. 6 “athlete” and the No. 203 overall prospect in his class by On3. He is considered the No. 19 overall prospect in Georgia for 2023.
Swain, who will likely play defensive back but could play receiver for the Gamecocks, is ranked a four-star prospect by On3 but is still a three-star in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Still, the 6-foot-0.5, 175-pounder made a big jump in those rankings, buoyed by his new On3 ranking.
When Swain committed to the Gamecocks in June, he was ranked the No. 756 overall prospect in the country, No. 41 athlete in the nation and the 73rd-best prospect from the state of Georgia.

Now he’s considered the No. 562 overall prospect, the No. 28 athlete and the No. 53 prospect in Georgia in the On3Consensus.

The Peach State product has in the past cited his relationship with Gamecock football secondary coach Torrian Gray as a significant reason for his interest in the South Carolina program.
“He keeps up with me like every day,” Swain told GamecockCentral.com in March of this year. “He’s very nice to me. He always calls me. He treats me like I’m one of the top (priorities) the two times that I’ve been there.”
Swain chose the Gamecocks over finalists Duke, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.
Swain took an official visit to Columbia in the month of June. Vanderbilt and Maryland also landed official visits in June, and Mississippi State scored a visit late in July.
The Gamecocks’ 2023 recruiting class to No. 17 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 7 in the SEC.
