South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer met with the media Sunday evening via teleconference, one day after the Gamecocks’ 56-20 win over Charlotte.
Shane Beamer provides Sunday injury report
After dealing with a long list of injuries — some serious and others more of the nagging variety — the South Carolina football team is starting to get healthy as it transitions from Week 4 to Week 5 of the season.
“Kind of the same as last night, nothing new from the game last night thankfully,” Shane Beamer said Sunday on his teleconference. “Again, everyone that I thought we had a chance to get back this week, we still feel like we have a chance to get back. Darius Rush and Dylan Wonnum are probably the two that would be most questionable right now but we’re very optimistic on both those guys.”

The Gamecocks had several players who were questionable going into Saturday night’s matchup with Charlotte, but Cam Smith, Boogie Huntley, R.J. Roderick and Jaylen Nichols were all able to return to action, playing snaps of varying amounts against the 49ers.
Transfer wide receiver Corey Rucker, who missed the first three games of the season with a foot injury, also made his South Carolina debut late in the game, catching a long touchdown pass from Luke Doty.
Wonnum and Rush did not play against Charlotte.
Wonnum hurt his foot late in the week in practice while Rush is dealing with a hamstring injury from the UGA game.

Freshman linebacker Stone Blanton was also out against Charlotte but should be close to returning.
“He hurt his shoulder against Georgia a little bit,” Beamer said. “He practiced this week. He didn’t do much on Tuesday but he practiced on Wednesday and Thursday and we had every intent to play him and then we just got out in the game last night and coming out of pregame warmups, he just didn’t feel great about it so we ended up not playing him but he’ll be fine and nothing significant.”
Beamer announced on Saturday that EDGE Terrell Dawkins will be out 4-6 weeks while dealing with a knee injury that required surgery, which he has already had.
Nickelback David Spaulding has not played in the last three games but Beamer did not specifically mention him in Sunday’s report.
EDGE Jordan Strachan, linebacker Mo Kaba and wide receiver Chad Terrell are out for the season.
After defeating Charlotte 56-20 on Saturday night at Williams-Brice Stadium, the Gamecocks will close out their three-game homestand with S.C. State this Saturday at noon.
