South Carolina QB Dante Reno entering portal, thanks Gamecock Nation

South Carolina rising redshirt freshman quarterback Dante Reno is entering the transfer portal after one year in Columbia, GamecockCentral has learned.
“Gamecock Nation, thank you for everything,” Reno told GamecockCentral’s Mike Uva. “This wasn’t an easy decision. South Carolina is a special place, and it’s because of the people. That will never change.”

The former three-star quarterback appeared briefly at the end of the Akron game last year but otherwise redshirted during his freshman campaign.
The Cheshire (Conn.) Academy graduate joined the Gamecocks program last recruiting cycle as the No. 34 quarterback in the country, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
Reno is the son of Yale football coach Tony Reno.
