Garnet Trust announces deal with Myles Stute
It appears South Carolina men’s basketball senior Myles Stute will play for the Gamecocks for another season.
Stute is the latest in a recent trend of South Carolina players signing with the Garnet Trust. The official collective of the University of South Carolina announced the news on Monday.
While a player signing with a collective does not bind that student-athlete to the school, collectives have still held a major role in player retention in today’s college athletics landscape, and can be seen at this point as a clear sign of a player’s intentions.

The 6-foot-6, 209-pound Stute played in 27 games, starting 17, in his first season with South Carolina after transferring in from Vanderbilt last offseason. Stute averaged 8.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game while hitting 45 3-pointers. He would have played more games if not for several nagging injuries.
Prior to arriving in Columbia, Stute played in 91 games in three seasons at Vanderbilt (2020-23), making 59 starts, and averaging 7.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game in 22.6 minutes per contest.
That news comes after Freshman All-SEC big-man Collin Murray-Boyles, wing Zachary Davis, and guard Jacobi Wright all signed name, image, and likeness deals with Garnet Trust. The student-athletes will use their platforms to promote the collective at events and on social media.
Murray-Boyles averaged 10.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game during the regular season this past year. The Columbia native who played most of his high school career at A.C. Flora has an On3 college rating of four stars and is the No. 99 overall player in the country and No. 14 power forward.

The Gamecocks are looking to replace three starters in Ta’Lon Cooper, B.J. Mack and Meechie Johnson. Cooper and Mack have exhausted their eligibility while Johnson entered the transfer portal and transferred back to Ohio State.
