While South Carolina men’s basketball will have to replace three of its key contributors from last year’s NCAA Tournament team, it appears the Gamecocks will also be returning at least three core players from that roster.

Wing Zachary Davis and guard Jacobi Wright have both signed name, image, and likeness deals with the Garnet Trust, the official collective of the University of South Carolina announced on Tuesday.

That news comes just one week after Freshman All-SEC big-man Collin Murray-Boyles signed with the collective.

Davis, a 6-foot-7 sophomore from Denmark-Olar and Orangeburg, S.C. native, emerged for the Gamecocks this season, playing in 33 games with 17 starts. He proved to be one of the team’s best on-ball defenders while chipping in 5.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

Wright, a junior guard from Fort Mill, S.C. who played his high school ball at Legacy Early College, was one of South Carolina’s key contributors off the bench playing in 34 games and averaging 5.9 points. He dropped a season-high 16 points and hit four 3-pointers in the Gamecocks’ win over Florida.

While a player signing with a collective does not bind that student-athlete to the school, collectives have still held a major role in player retention in today’s college athletics landscape.

The Gamecocks are looking to replace three starters in Ta’Lon Cooper, B.J. Mack and Meechie Johnson. Cooper and Mack have exhausted their eligibility while Johnson entered the transfer portal and transferred back to Ohio State.

Garnet Trust is the official NIL collective of the University of South Carolina. Since launching in November 2021, the Garnet Trust has worked with over 120 University of South Carolina student-athletes across 19 sports from football to women’s golf.
