Wisconsin four-star transfer portal guard Connor Essegian will be in Columbia this weekend and is set to see Lamont Paris’ South Carolina program on an official visit.

On3’s Jamie Shaw first brought the news of the visit to GamecockCentral subscribers on Friday afternoon and GC has since confirmed that Essegian is expected on campus.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pounder is ranked the No. 181 overall prospect and No. 38 shooting guard in the transfer portal by the On3 Industry Ranking, an average of the major rankings sites.

Maryland, Indiana, and Michigan are three other programs believed to be heavily in the mix here.

Essegian earned Big Ten All-Freshman honors before seeing his playing time drop to 7.3 minutes per game as a sophomore this season when he averaged 3.2 points per game.

But Essegian would appear to be a great scheme fit for the Gamecocks especially if they can unlock and build on what Essegian showed as a freshman when he played in all 35 games, starting the final 19, and averaged 11.7 points per game.

He also made 69 3-pointers that season, breaking the school record for 3-pointers made in a season by a freshman.

As a high schooler, the former three-star prospect scored 2,526 career points at Central Noble High School which ranked No. 10 on the all-time scoring list in the state of Indiana.
